Try on Wedding Dresses Online

Hello all newly engaged brides, I hope your wedding planning process has been stress free so far. Well today I think I will speak on one of the most daunting aspects of being newly engaged; "finding the perfect dress."

Once everyone has gotten over asking you the question "have you picked a date?" then they move on to "have you found a dress yet?" With so many dress options out there, you might feel like you are lost in a sea of white.

I have some good news for you, there is a wonderful site out there called brides.com that helps to narrow down the process for you. The site helps brides try on a ton of gowns on a virtual version of themselves.

“The BRIDES Dressing Room and Beauty Salon take online shopping to a whole new level, helping even the busiest bridal parties determine their wedding-day style to make confident and informed purchasing decisions. Virtual try-ons allow brides and bridesmaids the opportunity to vet their style in the privacy of their own homes allowing for a more focused shopping experience when they arrive in stores,” said BRIDES VP, Publisher Carolyn Kremins on long island press.com

Below are instructions from Brides.com

Use brides.com's Dressing Room tool to virtually try on wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, and mother-of-the-bride dresses.

Step 1: Take Your Picture
Choose a photo of yourself against a plain, light-colored background (like a door, for example) dressed in something very formfitting (like a swimsuit or shapewear). You'll want to keep your shoulders bare, so pull your hair back and tuck in any straps. If you don't, you'll see them under the dress.

Step 2: Upload Your Photo
Once you've signed up for an account on Brides.com, log in and visit the BRIDES Dressing Room, and upload your photo from your computer. (Don't worry! No one but you can access this picture.)

Step 3: Adjust the Fit Points (Read: Teal Dots)
If you need to, click and drag any of the eight teal dots until they are placed exactly on the outline of your shape. The positioning of these "fit points" determines where the dress fits your body.

You can also ask your bridesmaids to use this site to find their dress style

Step 4: Try on Dresses
You're ready to hit the dressing room! Try them all, or search by silhouette, price, designer, and hemline.

When you click on a dress you want to try on, it will automatically fit to your body. To adjust the fit of the dress, click on "Fit" in the gray navigation bar. The teal dots will appear, and you can click and drag them in order to get the perfect fit.

Once you find dresses you like, click on "Find a Salon Near You" to see them in person. (Note: You may need to make an appointment at the salon.)

Step 5: Save, Share, and Invite
Save your favorite looks in your "Saved Looks" album. Share them via Facebook, Twitter, and email. Invite your bridesmaids and mom to visit the BRIDES Dressing Room — they can virtually try on bridesmaid dresses and mother-of-the-bride dresses, too. In fact, you can style all of your bridesmaids right from your computer!

I know this is not the answer to all your wedding planning needs, but it will certainly help you get on track with the dress shopping. My biggest advice while you search is be open, don't rule anything out until you have tried it. You never know what will surprise you. Take your time and find what you love but don't take too much time because it can get confusing. In the end remember just like you found your man and stopped looking, once you find your dress, stop looking!
